Your Self-Worth Is Not Measured by the Opinions of Others

Women enjoying autumnHave you taken a non-judgmental look inside your heart and spirit to assess the traits that define the essence of who you are? Have you accepted all of those traits in a loving manner by embracing and recognizing the positive ones, and acknowledging the ones that need a little work?

 Self-Awareness and Self-Love

Knowing who you are and loving who you are, are important factors for claiming the power within you that is rightfully yours. When you allow the negative words and actions of others to define you, you are giving other people the power to dim the light within you.

Determining the Reason behind Communications

There is a very big difference between someone providing you with constructive feedback and someone hurling insults and hurtful words at you. The clues to determining the difference are in the delivery and the motivation for the feedback.

Respect Comes Naturally

When people have your best interest at heart, they will speak to you in a respectful manner, and the thoughts they share with you come from the heart. The person who speaks with you in this manner is genuinely interested in your welfare, and would like to help you succeed.

It is Their Fear

On the opposite end of the spectrum, when people say vicious or mean things to you using sarcastic, biting, or angry tones, they are projecting their own negative feelings about themselves on you. The motivation for such behavior is based in fear. Often, it is because they envy what you possess and are afraid that they will never have it themselves. In this person’s mind, they mistakenly think that putting you down will raise themselves up. Instead of taking responsibility for themselves and their personal happiness, they lash out at you. When facing an onslaught such as this, you need to be strong enough in your own right in order to recognize the motivation behind this behavior, and to dismiss it as someone else’s fears and not a reflection of who you are.

How to Achieve the Best Results

In relationships and communications, it is love, self-love and love toward others, that creates the outcomes we desire. Coming from a place of fear or attempting to instill fear in others may temporarily achieve certain results; however, in the long-term, it eats away at the levels of trust and can ultimately destroy interpersonal relations.

What to Do

When you encounter people who are operating from a place of fear instead of love, you can choose to dismiss their comments and hurtful behavior and move on with your life. Whether it was a momentary transgression or a more problematic aspect of someone’s behavior, try to take a more understanding and compassionate approach by knowing that each person is doing their best to grapple with the issues that we contend with on earth. We all make mistakes, and, hopefully, we learn from them. Within your heart, mind, and soul, forgive the person for their transgression, and wish them love, health, and happiness.

Self-Worth Is Defined by You

All in all, when you love yourself for who you are and you operate from a standpoint of love, you can more easily recognize when someone’s behavior is motivated by his or her fears, and not genuine feedback that you should take to heart. Your self-worth is a value that is defined by you, and only you. The actions you take and the thoughts you share display to others the value you hold for yourself in your heart, mind, and spirit. Believe in you, and love who you are, because you are a beautiful light in this world who deserves an abundance of happiness and love.

Finding Moments of Serenity in a Challenging World

Spirit Island - Jasper, Alberta, CanadaLife on this earth can be very challenging and trying. Between the seeming mountains of responsibility, the complicated relationship dynamics, and an inordinate amount of negativity on the internet and television, it can seem like an insurmountable task to find serenity within our souls. While we are here to learn lessons for our souls, we do not have to take the hard road or get swallowed up by the less than wonderful moments in our lives. Nor do we need to expose ourselves to other people’s agendas that are based on fear rather than love. We can choose to find the positive reasons for negative circumstances – yes, they do exist, and if you look for them, you will find them. We can also choose to carve out moments of happiness for ourselves to keep us going, lighten our hearts, and create joyful memories we can call upon when times get rough.

Events on Earth Can Be Frustrating

As you know, we do not always get what we want, when we want it. This can be frustrating at best, and crushing at worst. It is the human ego within us demanding that our needs and wants are immediately met. Unfortunately, we are often disappointed when this does not occur. What can we do to ride out the storm while retaining hope for the future? Often, it takes a reminder that the circumstances we face have to do with soul contracts put in place prior to our birth. These contracts dictate the lessons we will learn for our souls while residing on earth. Since heaven is a very happy place, it is challenging for us to learn the hard and fast lessons that life on earth offers. That is why we face obstacles and trying circumstances here. This does not mean, though, that our lives are meant to be devoid of happiness. We are meant to overcome the challenges we face with love and hope, as well as the understanding that there are important reasons for events to occur. Our dreams can and do come true here. Sometimes we need to gather the fortitude necessary to have patience and faith in the beneficial outcomes of our affairs.

When I find myself becoming frustrated with the length of time it is taking to see my dreams come to fruition, I remind myself to step back and stop worrying. God and the angels know what we are in need of, and they will provide it when the time is right for us. When I look back on my life, I can see the impeccable timing of the gifts I have been given. I can also understand why certain circumstances had to occur when they did because they gave me the skills I needed for future endeavors. When I was going through the tough times, it was difficult for me to understand the positive reasons for their occurrence. It is only through time and thoughtful examination that the true, positive reasons revealed themselves to me. However, I had to look for them. If I were to drown my heart and thoughts in negativity, it would be very hard for me to ever see the positive meanings behind any circumstances.

Relinquish Control and Breathe

By letting go of my desire to control certain outcomes, I am clearing the way for the universe to step in and deliver my most heartfelt desires. Instead of fighting and hitting road blocks, I relinquish control and focus on activities that bring me joy. Fretting and worrying do not change circumstances, they only waste time. Living in the present and making the most of my current circumstances helps me appreciate and enjoy who I am, as well as those around me. A great way to bring your focus back to the present is to simply breathe. Place your hands on your heart and concentrate on your breath as you inhale in through your nose. Envision positive energy flowing in as the air flows into your body. Take a brief pause, then exhale through your mouth while envisioning the release of negative energies. Your breathing should sound like the ocean. This relaxing Finding Your Center exercise is great to use for calming anxieties, focusing your energy on the present, and helping you speak from the heart.

You Are Given the Power to Succeed

When God wants you to do something, you will be given the abilities, the strength of will, and the resources to do it. You will also receive repeated signs and messages pointing you toward those goals. Divine intervention will lead you to the path you are to follow, and it often happens in ways that are wonderful and, at times, miraculous. It takes an open mind to see beyond the obvious to the extraordinary signs and circumstances delivered by your heavenly support team. When you recognize it, your heavenly support team cheers, because you acknowledged all of their hard work on your behalf. Your gratefulness will lead to even more events and divine intervention, as they know you are paying attention and appreciating their assistance.

Serenity is Vital to Your Path

It is important for your overall well being to create moments of serenity, especially when you feel most anxious or harried by the events of life. Remember, you have an incredible team of heavenly beings that love and support you. It is their desire to help guide you to the best possible paths for you. You can help them with their efforts by learning how to create and invite moments of calm in your life. It is in the stillness that you are most receptive to the guidance that can lead you out of the darkness and into the light.

Uplift Your Soul through Meditation!

Joyful celebrationIn today’s world, it is easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The responsibilities pile up, demanding our attention, leaving little time to relax and unwind. It is important to our overall well-being to find the time to take a break from the mundane tasks of the day, as well as any worries and stress that have accumulated. Meditation, no matter how brief, can uplift our souls by providing our minds, bodies, and spirits with a recharging that can boost our productivity, creativity, and energy.

Easy Ways to Meditate

Meditation comes in many forms. Many people think meditation means sitting in silence trying to still your thoughts or chanting “Om” while sitting cross-legged on the floor. These are forms of meditation that can be very useful; however, it takes a lot of practice to learn how to clear your mind of thoughts, and even when you do, it may only last for seconds at a time. The forms of meditation I would like to talk about are easier to fulfill, and they may also bring you much more enjoyment.

Any time we let go of worries and concerns and turn our focus toward pleasant activities, we are meditating. For instance here are some of my favorite ways to meditate:

  • Breathe – Taking a few deep breaths in through the nose and out through the mouth while concentrating on your breath is a simple way to meditate. You can also place your hands over your heart as you do this and release any thoughts you have about your concerns and worries. Concentrate on your breath and your heart. As you breathe, your breaths should sound like the ocean waves.
  • Nature – Enjoy time in nature. Go for a walk, hike, or jog. Breathe in the air, listen to the birds, and try to fully immerse yourself in the beauty of nature. Taking a break near water, such as the ocean, a lake, or a creek, can bring peace to your soul.
  • Exercise – Get your body moving. Focusing on fitness helps to get the blood flowing and releases happy endorphins. When you add music to the mix, you can be transported by the tunes as your body moves. Dancing is a wonderful way to meditate.
  • Creativity – Draw, paint, and create. Take your mind off your worries and concerns by creating a work of art.
  • Gardening – Planting flowers to beautify your surroundings or vegetables to provide homegrown food. A lot of personal satisfaction can be achieved from growing your own plants. It is wonderful to care for them and to watch them grow. This not only is a method of meditation, but also assists the earth and helps you to ground your energies.
  • Reading, Watching a Movie, or Playing a Game – Reading and watching movies has a way of transporting us to another world in healthy ways. A family fun night with movies or games also helps with bonding and the creation of positive memories.
  • Energy Healing or Massage – Reiki energy healing is a wonderful form of meditation that cleanses your energy centers and provides positive benefits for your mind, body, and soul. Treating yourself to a massage helps you to relax and unwind, and may include additional benefits when you include seaweed wraps, facials, and more. Self-care equates to a healthier you.
  • Cleaning – This one might not sound like fun; however, I have found that immersing myself in a task such as cleaning gives my mind a rest as I concentrate on the tasks at hand. Plus, organizing your belongings may create a more relaxed space.
  • Spend Time with Loved Ones – When we take the time to play with children or pets, or spend time with those we love, it can be a form a meditation, as long as we are living in the moment and letting go of our stress and worries. Have fun and enjoy the people you love by participating in activities that bring joy to all of you.
  • Meditation Journeys or Guided Meditation – A guided meditation is one that can take you on a journey in your mind to help you relax and unwind, to meet up with your loved ones in spirit and the angels, and more. As you can see, there are many ways in which you can relax and unwind. It is important to give yourself time for self-care and reenergizing your mind, body, and spirit. Do your best to incorporate some form of meditation into your day.

Meditating with Nature

Spending time in nature is a wonderful way to rejuvenate your Spirit. It is a great way to reconnect with the Spirit that resides within us as the fresh air, birds, animals, plants, flowers and trees provide us with a panorama of natural beauty that speaks to our souls.

Parks are wonderful places to commune with nature. These places have been set aside to preserve and protect the natural habitats of the earth. When we visit them, we are there not only to enjoy them, but also to preserve the flora and fauna that reside there by respecting the land and all of its creatures that dwell there.

Myakka River State Park, FloridaWhen you go to a park or wildlife preserve to commune with nature, take along your binoculars to get a good look at the birds, plants and animals that you discover along your path. Sturdy, but comfortable, footwear and a bottle of water is also recommended. You may also want to bring along a pen and paper to record your thoughts or draw what you see. A camera, too, can help you to capture the beauty of what you are experiencing.

Have no expectations other than to breathe in the fresh air and to take delight in the sights and sounds that nature offers. Take note of the way the sun filters through the trees or sparkles as it reflects off of the water in a stream or lake. Listen to the music of the birds as they sing to one another in the trees. To see the animals, the best time to visit is near dawn or dusk, as this is when they come out to forage for food. Most of all, respect their homes and habitats by simply being an observer. Do not destroy or disturb their environment or leave litter behind. I am sure you would not appreciate it if someone came to your house and trashed it or left litter on the floor. We can all be good citizens of this earth by respecting nature and our environment. Be there to enjoy the splendor of the earth and to breathe in the peace that comes from observing nature’s simplicity, beauty and innocence. It is a gift worth preserving. For those of you who are already actively respecting and maintaining the environment in big and small ways, know that Mother Nature sends you her gratitude.

Nature can be enjoyed at any time. You don’t need to be at a park to hear the birds or to walk barefoot in the grass. Nature is all around us, every day. It is the air that we breathe, the wind that caresses our faces, the water we drink, the vegetables and plants that we eat, the flowers that we grow, the pets that we graciously open our homes and hearts to, the rabbits that hop in our yards, the bees that propagate the pollen for the plants, and the sun that brings warmth and light to our world. Enjoy it, respect it and give gratitude for it.

Whenever you need to feel refreshed and rejuvenated, go outside and take a deep breath. Thank Mother Nature for the gifts that She has given and reconnect with the Spirit that is within you.
